The Continuing Struggle for Racial and Social Inequality
Fighting for you
Clean Water for All.
The NAACP calls for a federal civil rights investigation into the State of Mississippi for its years of racially discriminatory neglect and underfunding of Jackson's water systems and to ensure that residents and plaintiffs are centered in the solutions.
A Step Toward True Student Debt Relief
We organized. We rallied. We shared your stories and worked the policy routes. Now President Joe Biden has cancelled up to $20,000 in federal student loan debt for Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 for other student loan borrowers. Once student loan payments resume in 2023, they will be capped at 5% of a borrower's monthly income.
Preparing for 2022 Midterm Elections
In courtrooms across the country, we're fighting to make sure Black voters have access to the ballot box. In your communities, NAACP units are working to register, educate, and motivate voters ahead of the November 8 elections. Power your vote with important dates, resources, and volunteer opportunities.
Driving Quality of Life through Data
NAACP and Brookings have partnered on The Black Progress Index,a new analysis of the places where Black people are thriving most, as measured through their life expectancy. In the spirit of W.E.B. Du Bois, we're working to provide insight into the local civic actions that can improve life expectancy outcomes.
Everyone deserves safe, clean drinking water. In 2022, there is no excuse as to why our government cannot provide the necessary infrastructure to ensure that all of its residents have access to this basic human right.
- Derrick Johnson, President and CEO, NAACP
